Follow-up fees depend on the length and complexity of the session. Your provider will discuss this with you in advance.

These are our standard rates. Individual clinicians set their own fees, so the amount you pay may differ. Ask when you book, or call 804-264-0966 and we will tell you what the clinician you want to see charges.

Using health insurance

Check your coverage before your first session.

We are not able to check your benefits for you. Coverage depends on your particular plan and on which clinician you see, and your insurer is the only one who can tell you what yours covers.

It takes about five minutes. Call the member services number on the back of your insurance ID card, ask for the details below, and write them down to bring to your first session.

Doing this will tell you:

  • Whether the clinician you want to see is in network, and whether your plan needs a pre-authorization first
  • Whether there’s an annual deductible to meet before co-pays begin
  • Whether you’ll owe a copayment (a fixed amount per session) or coinsurance (a percentage of each charge)

Ask your insurer

Have your ID card and the clinician’s full name ready, and note down each answer.

Is this clinician in network?

Give their full name. Coverage is per clinician, not per practice.

What is my deductible?

The amount to meet before co-pays start.

Copay or coinsurance?

A fixed amount, or a percentage per session.

Plan directories

Find us in your plan’s directory.

Most carriers let you search their network online before you call. Search for the clinician you want to see by name, or for The Westwood Group at 5821 Staples Mill Road, Richmond, VA 23228.

Not seeing your plan? Our clinicians also see clients who pay privately. The fees above are the full self-pay rates, and our Good Faith Estimate notice explains what to expect in writing.

Payment & policies

Good to know before we begin.

Your portion of the fees is due at the time of service and may be paid by check, cash, or credit card.

Cancellations

Please give 48 hours’ notice to cancel. Appointments missed or cancelled less than 24 hours ahead are charged unless arranged in advance. Insurance does not cover them.

Copayments

Copayments are expected at each session unless you work out other arrangements with your provider.

Returned checks

There is a $35 charge for all returned checks.

Past-due balances

A service fee of up to 10% per month is added to bills 90+ days past due. Collections may add up to 50% of the balance to cover costs.

Services not covered by insurance

Some services are not covered by health insurance: sessions exceeding 60 minutes, court testimony, letter- and report-writing, phone calls lasting more than five minutes, and authorized contact with other professionals (attorneys, teachers, physicians, and providers). These are discussed with you in advance and usually prorated on the time involved, at an hourly rate set by your provider.
