Still have a question? Call 804-264-0966 . Our front desk is glad to help.

What is EMDR, exactly?

EMDR is a structured, well-studied therapy that uses guided eye movements (or other bilateral stimulation) to help your brain reprocess distressing memories. You don’t have to talk through every detail for it to work. Several of our clinicians are EMDR-trained.

Do I have to relive what happened?

No. Good trauma therapy is paced and consent-based. We build safety and stabilization first, and you stay in control of how much you share and how fast you go.

Does trauma therapy really work?

Yes. Trauma is one of the most researched areas in mental health, and approaches like EMDR and trauma-focused CBT have strong evidence behind them. Many people experience lasting relief.

It happened a long time ago. Is it too late?

It’s never too late. Trauma can affect people years or decades later, and it remains treatable at any point. Reaching out now is a meaningful first step.
