About Emily

Emily is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) with a Master’s in Counseling & Human Development and a Bachelor’s in English & Secondary Education. Her academic and professional background has strengthened her ability to think critically, recognize patterns, and engage creative expression when words feel inaccessible.

She is committed to social justice, community engagement, and understanding the systemic influences that shape individual experiences. Her clinical framework is rooted in strengths-based, harm-reduction, and person-centered approaches. She strives to create a safe, nonjudgmental space where adolescents (13+) and adults feel supported and empowered as they navigate life transitions, substance use, LGBTQIA+ interests, complex trauma, body image and self-worth concerns, relationship challenges, grief, and burnout.

“I’m glad you’re here right now. The interest you’re taking in yourself is huge. I recognize that starting with a counselor may feel daunting, but I am here to make that process as open and as safe as possible. If you’re feeling alone, stuck, or overwhelmed by the same patterns showing up in your life, our work together can be a time to slow down, make sense of what’s happening, and begin creating meaningful, sustainable change.”

Working with Emily

How I work

I draw primarily from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Acceptance & Commitment Therapy and Mindfulness-based. Together we choose what fits you best, aiming for practical tools you can use between sessions.

What to expect at a first session

If you’re interested, we can begin with a consultation: a free, brief (10–15 minute) introductory video or phone call, so you can get a sense of our time together. If you decide to schedule a session, our first meeting is a time for me to gather some history about your experiences and identify your hopes and goals for therapy. We’ll then work to establish a relationship that feels safe enough to explore those hopes and goals further.

Who I work with best

I do my best work with adolescents and adults who are ready to understand how their past affects their present, and who want to reduce its influence on their future. Those looking for a collaborative, psychoeducation-driven, creative, and somatic approach to regulating their nervous system and easing emotional overwhelm tend to be a good fit for our time together.
