She utilizes this overarching principle to address the various presenting needs of her clients from helping an individual cope with a primary medical illness to addressing stressors associated with life transitions, interpersonal conflicts, or primary anxiety or depression. Dr. Kutner draws from several therapy approaches including cognitive behavioral, psychodynamic, and interpersonal therapy as well as integrating mindfulness and relaxation based techniques into her practice in order to meet each individual’s needs.

Dr. Kutner’s areas of specialization and interest include helping individuals address the emotional and behavioral aspects of their medical condition, identifying and modifying lifestyle behaviors that serve as risk factors for disease progression, and providing pre-surgical psychological evaluations for individuals considering bariatric surgery.
